Before The Concert

Come 17th of February, I arrived at Stadium Negara at 3.30pm-ish, alone, because my boyfriend didn’t want to go and a friend of mine couldn’t come. There was already a crowd there, some even arrived at 9am! I could hear Paramore soundchecking when I arrived and they sounded terrific. So stoked for the actual concert!!!

When I arrived, I had no idea what to do and where I should be so I just sat with the crowd, waiting for the clock to strike 5pm. Why 5pm? Well, I was SO lucky to be able to score myself a MEET & GREET pass just two days before the concert by entering a contest hosted by Livescape Asia (who was one of the organizers). I was supposed to dress myself as a member of the band and THIS picture won me my meet & greet pass.

MTV Asia & Meet and Greet

Finally it was 5pm and I got a message to wait at the yellow zone entrance for the meet & greet session. I was SO nervous. Anyone who knows me knows how HUGE a deal this is to me. Actually, huge doesn’t even describe it.

While waiting, suddenly a group of people from MTV Asia approached me. The guy was like “Hi, you look like a big Paramore fan. We are from MTV and we need your help. If you agree to help us, we will give you something really special.” And I’m like, of course! So, basically, they interviewed me and asked me a bunch of questions. I’m totally unprepared and was blubbering the whole time.

After they were done asking questions, the guy was like “Okay, thank you so much. And for that, you have gotten yourself A TSHIRT SIGNED AND DESIGNED BY PARAMORE”. And I was like WHUAAAATTTT????? I literally can’t even at that moment (and the camera was still rolling, I can’t even imagine how my face looked like).

This is the shirt, it is touched by Paramore. It is drawn on by Paramore. It is the only one in this world. I can’t believe it either. You can see that my shirt is the one Jeremy was drawing on on the bottom right pic.image

After that, I went back to line up for the meet & greet session feeling jittery and excited and all that stuff because I just won that shirt and because I will be meeting the band soon. We were divided into groups of five and I was in the second group. We were then led to the meet & greet area and briefed on the “rules”. Basically, we can only have ONE item signed, we cannot hug the band and we cannot take pictures with our own cameras… which sounds like, and is, quite a bummer. We didn’t have to wait long and before we knew it, suddenly PARAMORE came in. I LITERALLY STARTED CRYING. LIKE, TEARS WERE FALLING FROM MY EYES. WHAT.

… and it wasn’t even my group’s turn then! When it was my turn, I’ve already stopped crying, haha! Hayley greeted me first and she said that she liked my hair and I’m like “I love yours”. Jeremy said that he likes my hair too. I passed them their gifts I got for them which were in envelopes with their names on it with some little designs on the side (I forgot to take a pic of this!!) and Taylor thought it was pretty cool. I told them that I drew them and their drawings were in the envelope and Taylor said “I can’t wait to see them because the envelope was really cool.” And my heart just skipped a beat. I showed Jeremy the shirt that they did that I won and he was like “OH! So it was you who won this! Let me show you the one I did.” And he showed me the part where he wrote “Jeremy was here” on the armpit and he laughed, and we laughed together (did I actually laugh with THE JEREMY DAVIS???). I knew the organizers didn’t allow us to hug the band but I asked anyway and Hayley was like “of course!” and we hugged. It was surreal. After talking to them for a while, we took a group picture, which I am still waiting for because it was taken by the official photographer, and then we were asked to leave. It was all very rushed, I was bummed I couldn’t take loads and loads of pictures of and with them but I still love the experience anyway. They are all such sweethearts!!

During the concert

After the meet & greet we were asked to go back out and line up, again. And because I came alone and didn’t have friends who were already in line, I had to go to the end of the line. I didn’t understand why we couldn’t just go into the concert area since we were already in anyway. But, whatevs. When I got in, I managed to get myself to, I guess, the eight row perhaps? After that, we all had to wait for quite a long time for the concert to start, contrary to the first time they were here when they were punctual.

mewithoutYou opened for them. Hayley said it was an honour because they’re their favourite band.

She even came onstage for a song.

After they were done, the stage was rearranged and THIS came out.

“Haylor”? Haha! Kidding! This was during “In The Mourning”.

image(A pretty decent picture of Taylor I took with my own camera, woot!)

I couldn’t get any pictures of Jeremy because he was mostly on the other side of the stage. When he did come over to my side, he was moving too much to get a decent picture OR I was recording a video.

The setlist was pretty much the same like their other shows in Bangkok and Manila. They opened with Now (which is amazing) and continued with That’s What You Get, Born For This, For a Pessimist I’m Pretty Optimistic, Decode, Renegade, Pressure, Careful, In The Mourning (which they mixed with Landslide), The Only Exception, Fences, Let The Flames Begin,  Looking Up, Ignorance (they played Ignorance so stop saying that they’re not gonna play Ignorance live), Monster (with the awesome outro), Brick By Boring Brick, Hello Cold World and ended with Misery Business feat. Lucy from Indonesia who was the lucky fan who got to sing with Hayley.

The crowd was amazing. We sang literally EVERY WORD of EVERY SONG. The show was awesome. I managed to get myself to the 2nd/3rd row, depending on where I was pushed to. The mosh pit was crazy. I enjoyed myself, made some new friends. Best part of the show though, was when Hayley saw me in the crowd and smiled at me. I knew it was me because when I smiled back she raised her eyebrows & smiled wider!! AAAAHHHHHHH.

Some pics with some new friends after the show!

I will never trade this experience with anything else. I think I was pretty lucky scoring all these awesome stuff I scored. I can’t wait for the next time they come back here and I can’t wait for the new album!
