On Sunday Hayley Williams performed Simmer at the close of Collina Strada’s playful runway-cum-concert, held at the recently opened Manhattan venue the Dance during the 2020 New York Fashion Week. “There’s a lyric that goes ‘Wrap yourself in petals for armor.’ It was so surreal to be performing that song while watching models crawl, dance, and sashay down a catwalk covered in sod,” Hayley says. “I felt at home, in a dream.”
“This was my first fashion show and I just wanted to embrace the whole moment and surrender to it,” she says. She ended up wearing a checked red and yellow dress (it’s coincidentally Williams’s favorite color combination) and a tie-dyed sweatshirt in shades of soft seafoam green. “My sneakers were wrapped in a printed fabric that was basically just a bunch of different types of tomatoes,” she notes.
